This is a C47 Skytrain airplane. It is on display at the airpark in front of Tinker Air Force base. The C47 Skytrain was also called the Gooney Bird. It was built by Douglas Aircraft from 1943 to 1945. Half of all C47 airplanes were built in Oklahoma City. The C47 was used to carry cargo and also operated as a glider tow plane during World War 2.
