This is one of fifty modern airplanes as the set was called. It is a US Army Bomber. This is actually the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress. History shows that it was one of the most effective military planes in the world. It produced over 4000 HP from a total of 4 Wright Cyclone engines. the top speed of this aircraft was 268 mph and it could cruise at 220 mph. It was equipped with a connon it its bow and machine guns all around. At one point in history, it was the largest bomber in the world.
